A 29-year-old man died after a motorcycle collided with an ambulance past 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30, in Barangay Langtad, Argao, Cebu, police said.
The fatality was identified as Jovee Emia Lomocso, a passenger on a motorcycle driven by Karl Catubig, a resident of Samboan.
According to the initial police investigation, the motorcycle and the ambulance were traveling in opposite directions before the crash.
Authorities said that upon reaching a curved section of the road, the ambulance allegedly swerved, causing its 55-year-old driver to lose control of the vehicle.
The ambulance reportedly crossed into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with the motorcycle.
Both the motorcycle driver and his passenger were thrown from the vehicle due to the impact. They were immediately rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.
However, Lomocso was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Photos taken at the scene showed the ambulance nearly continuing into a nearby fishpond following the collision.
Police reported that none of the nine passengers inside the ambulance sustained serious injuries. They were transported safely to the Talisay City District Hospital.
The ambulance driver is now under police custody and may face charges of homicide, physical injuries, and damage to property in connection with the incident.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and reminded motorists to exercise caution, especially when navigating curved road sections.
