Man nabbed for stealing gamefowls in Cebu, beaten by residents

A 30-year-old man was injured after being caught stealing two fighting roosters and beaten by residents in Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City, on Wednesday morning, July 30.

The suspect, identified only as Ronnie, a resident of Barangay Duljo Fatima, was allegedly caught in the act of stealing gamefowls worth around ₱30,000.

Initial police investigation revealed that Ronnie forcibly entered the victim’s property and took the roosters. The house caretaker saw him escaping and chased after him while calling for help.

Nearby residents responded and managed to catch Ronnie. They then took turns beating him before he was turned over to the police.

Police brought the suspect to the station for documentation, then rushed him to the hospital due to injuries he sustained during the mob attack.

Ronnie remains under hospital arrest while authorities prepare formal charges.
