Man killed, wife hurt in predawn shooting at Negros Occidental

A man was killed while his wife was injured in a shooting incident at a stockyard in Barangay Bunga, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental early Wednesday morning, July 30.

The victims were identified as Reynaldo, 58, who died at the scene, and his wife Carlita, 48, who sustained injuries. Both were residents of Barangay Prosperidad, San Carlos City.

According to Carlita, the couple was carrying sacks of piglets to sell when an unknown gunman suddenly opened fire around 4 a.m.

She said no one saw the suspect due to the darkness, but several people nearby reported hearing three successive gunshots.

Reynamie, the couple’s 30-year-old daughter, told Brigada News FM Bacolod that her father recently had a dispute with someone in their hometown.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, while the victims’ family is calling for justice.
