Three pedestrians were injured after they were allegedly hit by an SUV in Barangay Marigondon past 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, with the incident captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV).
The victims were a married couple and their nephew who were walking together when the SUV struck them, according to the CCTV footage.
The SUV was traveling from Maribago toward Marigondon when the collision occurred.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit said the SUV may have been overtaking a tricycle when it hit the pedestrians.
After the collision, the driver allegedly did not stop and immediately left the area.
Police were able to obtain the SUV’s plate number and forwarded it to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) for verification.
The LTO later identified the driver and the registered owner of the SUV. Authorities then ordered the driver’s arrest and the vehicle’s impoundment.
The 39-year-old male victim was discharged from the hospital, while his 40-year-old wife and their nephew remained confined for treatment.
The incident remains under authorities’ attention following the identification of the vehicle and its driver.
The CCTV footage is expected to serve as part of the information gathered by authorities regarding the collision.
