Leviste’s solar firm to face ₱24-B fine

Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Sharon Garin announced that out of the 17,904 megawatts (MW) worth of power supply contracts terminated from 2024 to 2025, 11,427 MW involved solar projects under Solar Philippines.

The firm was founded by businessman and politician Congressman Leandro Leviste.

The termination of the contracts is still linked to the company’s alleged failure to comply with its contractual obligations.

As a result, Solar Philippines is facing penalties and financial obligations amounting to ₱24 billion.

According to Garin, the government wants only “legitimate” investors in the energy sector, which is why it is undertaking efforts to clean up the system.
