Former Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Elizaldy “Zaldy” Co declared a net worth of ₱4.1 billion in 2019.
In a briefing, his legal counsel, Atty. Ruy Rondain, said this amount had increased by another ₱900 million.
Rondain stressed that the rise in Co’s net worth is not an indication of any crime.
He also claimed that Co was already wealthier than former Senator Cynthia Villar and boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, even before entering the House of Representatives.
Legal counsel claims former Rep. Zaldy Co has been ‘prejudged’
The legal counsel of former Ako-Bicol party-list representative Zaldy Co believes the Ombudsman has already “prejudged” the case against his client regarding alleged corruption in flood control projects.
In a briefing, Atty. Ruy Rondain said he feels the Ombudsman has already passed judgment on Co.
He also emphasized that, given the current situation, there is no longer any tactical benefit in filing a counter-affidavit.
Because of this, they will not be submitting one.
To date, Co has yet to appear before ongoing investigations into the budget insertions and the flood control scandal.
