Lawyer killed in dawn ambush in Cebu

A lawyer was killed in an early morning ambush Thursday along Sacris Road in Purok 8, Bakilid, Mandaue City, Cebu. Police identified the victim as Atty. Duke Ramil Perral Lincuna, a CPA lawyer who was driving a sport utility vehicle when two motorcycle-riding suspects opened fire.

The shooting happened past 5 a.m. Emergency responders immediately brought Lincuna to the Mandaue City District Hospital, but he was pronounced dead.

Investigators recovered 11 spent shells at the scene. The caliber of the firearm used has yet to be determined. Police are working to identify the two suspects who fled on a motorcycle after the attack.

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines released a statement expressing deep concern over the reported killing. It said the violence unsettles the legal community and affects public confidence in the justice system.

The IBP called for a transparent and impartial investigation, stressing that accountability must be based on evidence. The group added that lawyers work in environments marked by conflict and scrutiny but are expected to help resolve disputes within the bounds of the law.

The organization extended condolences to Lincuna’s family and colleagues. The statement was issued by the Office of the National Director for Communications under the authority of the IBP’s 27th Board of Governors.

The investigation remains ongoing as police continue gathering evidence and pursuing leads.
