Three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were seriously injured in an explosion at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on October 10 are showing signs of recovery.
According to Labor Attaché Dominador Salanga, one of the three patients previously confined in the intensive care unit (ICU) has been transferred to a regular ward in the hospital’s burn unit.
Another patient remains in the ICU but may soon be transferred to a regular ward, while the third is still in intensive care but is now conscious and has a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 15 out of 15, indicating full consciousness.
Meanwhile, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac is set to visit Saudi Arabia with other department officials to personally check on the injured OFWs.
Cacdac will also meet with Filipino community leaders to relay President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s message and discuss the situation and needs of Filipinos in the country.
The visit will be conducted under the One-Country Team Approach, led by the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs through the Philippine Embassy and Consulate.
The initiative follows the President’s directive to ensure the safety and welfare of Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia.
