George Foreman, boxing legend, dies at 76

George Foreman, the legendary heavyweight boxing champion known as “Big George,” has passed away at the age of 76. His family confirmed the news.

Foreman first gained international fame after winning a gold medal in the 1968 Olympics. In 1973, he became the heavyweight champion by defeating Joe Frazier. One of his most famous bouts was the 1974 “Rumble in the Jungle” against Muhammad Ali, where he suffered a historic defeat.

After retiring in 1977, Foreman made an unexpected comeback in 1987. He shocked the world in 1994 by reclaiming the heavyweight title at 45, becoming the oldest champion in history.

Beyond boxing, Foreman became a successful entrepreneur, most notably with the George Foreman Grill, which sold over 100 million units. He was also an ordained minister and founded the George Foreman Youth and Community Center.
