The Department of Health (DOH) expects the number of fireworks-related injuries to further increase.
According to Health spokesperson Assistant Secretary Albert Domingo, around 300 additional cases may be added to the current 235 recorded incidents, as authorities continue validating reports.
The more than 200 cases logged so far are 42% lower compared to the 403 cases recorded during the same period last year.
The leading causes of these injuries were the use of boga and 5-star fireworks.
Road Crash Accidents This Year Higher Than Last Year
More than a thousand road crash accidents were recorded during the holiday season this year.
According to the Department of Health (DOH), from December 21, 2025 to January 2, 2026, a total of 1,113 road crash injuries were reported by 10 sentinel hospitals.
This figure is 82% higher compared to the number of accidents recorded during the same period last year.
Seven fatalities were reported—five were motorcycle riders, while two were pedestrians.
Meanwhile, 965 individuals involved in the accidents were found to be not wearing safety gear or seatbelts.
