Ernesto Biligan Bigsang, a barangay kagawad and former chairman of Barangay Cuyapon in Kabacan, Cotabato, was killed in an ambush early this morning.
The 68-year-old was cycling to his farm at around 5:30 AM when two suspects attacked him.
According to local police, the suspects ambushed Bigsang and fatally shot him in the head, leading to his immediate death.
The assailants quickly fled the scene toward Barangay Paatan.
Bigsang, a well-known resident of the area, was on his way to tend to his vegetable garden when the attack occurred.
The motive behind the brazen daylight murder remains unclear, and authorities are continuing their investigation.
