Engineer son of viral jeepney driver hired by DPWH

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon spoke with newly licensed Civil Engineer Dave Rusty Recososa, the son of viral jeepney driver Tatay Edwin Recososa—who became known in Davao City for giving free rides to passengers after his son passed the Civil Engineering Licensure Exam.

Dizon encouraged Dave to be part of the agency’s reforms and offered him a job at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Davao Regional Office as a civil engineer.

According to the secretary, the agency needs “fresh blood”—new employees who are unlike former DPWH personnel such as Brice Hernandez and Henry Alcantara, who are now being linked to anomalous flood control projects.

Dizon also shared that Dave’s entry into the agency comes at a good time, as DPWH has many projects lined up for the coming year.

He added that young engineers will play a crucial role in restoring public trust in the agency.
