DOH urges measles-rubella vaccination amid rise in cases

The Department of Health (DOH) is urging the public to get vaccinated against measles-rubella following an increase in reported cases.

Data from January 4 to March 21, 2026 shows that cases have risen to 1,627 nationwide.

According to the DOH, this reflects a 45% increase from the 1,121 cases recorded during the same period last year.

The agency noted that 68% or 1,111 of the cases involve individuals who were not vaccinated.

In light of this, the DOH is encouraging the public to get immunized to protect those who remain vulnerable.

The agency also emphasized that measles-rubella vaccines are proven safe and effective, and provide the best protection against the viruses and their severe complications.
