Did we just discover a mythical creature in Cebu?

Could the skeletal remains found in the ceiling of an ancestral house in Barangay Poblacion be those of a Sigbin, a creature from Filipino mythology? The 75-year-old homeowner, Rey, believes so.

The Sigbin, known in local lore as a creature that sucks the blood of its victims and has large ears, might have been hiding in his family’s house all along. Rey’s parents bought the house in 1946, and it was while fixing the roof on October 28 that he found the skeleton, with another discovery following on November 11.

Strange noises from the ceiling, initially dismissed as rats, now seem far more ominous. Could it really be a Sigbin, as many of the elderly neighbors suggest? Rey is torn between having the remains examined by experts and heeding the warnings from his dreams that caution him against removing the bones from the house.
