The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has not imposed a deployment ban on overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) bound for Saudi Arabia despite a series of attacks in Riyadh.
In an interview, DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the agency is coordinating with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to assess the security situation in the country.
Cacdac advised Filipino travelers to check with their airlines before heading to the airport to confirm whether their flights are proceeding as scheduled, following the temporary airport closure and the cancellation of some flights.
Four Filipinos were injured in an earlier attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
The DMW continues to monitor the condition of the injured Filipinos and coordinate with their families to ensure they receive the necessary assistance.
Cacdac also urged OFWs to follow safety protocols and official advisories issued by Saudi authorities.
OFWs and their families who need assistance may contact the DMW hotline at 1348.
