Two employees of a courier company in Davao City are under police custody following allegations of staging a theft involving over PHP 500,000. The two suspects, identified as “Amador,” a supervisor, and “Ana,” a 35-year-old finance in-charge, are suspected of faking a snatching incident to steal the money. Ana’s boyfriend, “Lisa,” is also implicated in the case, while authorities continue to search for “Ken,” the alleged accomplice who reportedly took the cash-filled backpack.
According to Talomo Police Station Commander PMaj Genesis Palmes Oriel, Ana initially reported the alleged robbery, claiming that the bag containing PHP 515,000 was snatched from her outside a pawnshop in Matina Aplaya around 1 p.m. yesterday. During a police interview, inconsistencies in her account raised suspicions, leading authorities to summon both her boyfriend and their supervisor for further questioning.
In a breakthrough during the investigation, police discovered that Ana’s boyfriend’s sister had turned over the backpack at Lisa’s residence. Inside the bag was PHP 445,928, with a missing amount of PHP 69,451.86, which police believe may be in Ken’s possession.
The three are currently detained at Talomo Police Station, while police continue to seek Ken’s whereabouts. Authorities have confirmed they will pursue qualified theft charges against the detained individuals, and theft charges will also be filed against Ken.
