DA to implement stricter monitoring of lechon stores amid ASF threat

The monitoring of lechon sales will be tightened further.

This comes after 14 lechon shops in La Loma, Quezon City were ordered closed when several pigs tested positive for African swine fever (ASF).

According to Department of Agriculture (DA) Spokesperson Asec. Arnel de Mesa, the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), the Quezon City local government, and La Loma lechon vendors have already met regarding the implementation of an affidavit of undertaking.

This is meant to ensure compliance with regulations following the temporary closure of several lechon shops due to the disease.

De Mesa explained that the measure aims to guarantee public safety and maintain proper operations among lechon businesses.
