A pet crow owned by the mayor of President Roxas, Capiz went viral online after it snatched ₱10,000 in cash that was supposed to be distributed as a bonus, local officials confirmed.
Mayor Receliste Lachica Escolin said the money had been placed on a table and was intended as a bonus for his business. He said he had temporarily left the cash unattended while he was busy listing items.
According to Escolin, the crow suddenly flew toward the table, grabbed the stack of bills and flew off with the money. The bird later landed on the roof of a nearby house, where it was seen holding the cash.
A video of the incident circulated widely on social media, drawing amusement from viewers. In the footage, the crow appeared to peck at the bills and drop some of the money to the ground, prompting reactions online.
The mayor confirmed the authenticity of the video, saying the crow has long been kept as a pet. No reports were made indicating that the money was permanently lost.
