Cousin hacks relative in karaoke song dispute in Antique

A karaoke session in Barangay Masanag, Hamtic, Antique ended in violence Sunday night, September 14, after a dispute between two cousins escalated into a hacking incident.

Police identified the victim as Jeson, 27, while the suspect was named as his cousin Christian, 33. Both men had just returned from working in a farm before deciding to hold a karaoke session using a cellphone connected to a Bluetooth speaker.

According to the Hamtic Municipal Police Station, the two cousins began arguing over a song. Christian claimed that he was supposed to sing the track, but Jeson did not give him the chance.

In an interview with Brigada News FM San Jose Antique, Police Lieutenant Sirlan Mabaquiao, deputy chief of police of Hamtic MPS, said the dispute quickly turned physical. Christian allegedly grabbed a bladed weapon and attacked Jeson.

The victim sustained four wounds on his arm before being rushed to a hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that he survived the attack.

Police immediately took Christian into custody following the incident. He remains detained as investigators continue to gather evidence and statements regarding the case.

As of Monday, no formal charges had been announced, but police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
