Coast Guard revives 3-year-old after drowning in Lanao del Sur

A three-year-old child was successfully revived by the Philippine Coast Guard after a drowning incident in waters off Lorenzo Beach in Barangay Lorenzo, Balabagan, Lanao del Sur, on Feb. 1, 2026.

The Coast Guard said the child was reported to have drowned while swimming at a beach resort in the area at around 3:20 p.m. The victim was identified as a resident of Barangay Bayanga, Maguindanao del Norte.

Coast Guard personnel responded immediately after receiving the report. Apprentice Seaman Anglebert P. Subingsubing, who is trained in Basic Life Support, administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to the child.

Authorities said the life-saving efforts were successful, and the child was revived on site. The victim was then promptly transported to Malabang Hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment.

The Philippine Coast Guard reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives at sea and responding quickly to emergencies in coastal communities and recreational areas.

In its advisory, the agency urged the public, especially parents and guardians, to closely supervise children during swimming and other water-related activities to prevent similar incidents.

The Coast Guard also reminded beachgoers of the risks associated with open waters, particularly for young children, and encouraged families to follow safety precautions while visiting resorts and shorelines.

No additional details were immediately released regarding the child’s condition following transport to the hospital, as medical assessment was ongoing.
