A tricycle driver and his passenger were declared dead on arrival at a hospital after a shooting incident in General Santos City, police said.
The attack happened along Aparente Street corner Salvani Street in Barangay City Heights, according to authorities.
Police identified the tricycle driver as Iven Conde, 33, a resident of Barangay Mabuhay in General Santos City. His passenger, Nhiezer Rolliene Jane Aguacito, a nurse, was also killed after being struck by a bullet fired by an unidentified gunman.
Authorities said both victims were rushed to the hospital but did not survive their injuries.
Police are continuing their investigation and have launched backtracking operations to determine the identity of the suspect and the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Officers are also reviewing possible CCTV footage from the area that may provide leads in the case.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Nursing Students’ Association – Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) Chapter released a statement expressing grief over Aguacito’s death.
The organization said Aguacito was a graduate of Sultan Kudarat State University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, Batch 2024. She was described as a beloved alumna remembered for her kindness and warm spirit.
The group extended condolences to the Aguacito family and said it stands with them as they seek justice and healing following the violent incident.
The statement added that her passing has left a deep void among her family, friends, mentors and the wider SKSU community.
Police have not yet released further details on the possible motive behind the shooting or whether any suspects have been identified.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities gather evidence and work to determine accountability for the deaths of Conde and Aguacito in General Santos City.
