Cher blindsided as son’s estranged wife demands $12K monthly support after drug spiral lands him in hospital

Cher is in crisis as her son Elijah Blue Allman battles a deadly drug relapse—and just days after his hospitalization, his estranged wife demanded more than $12,000 a month in spousal support.

On June 15, Elijah was found in a drug-induced haze at an Airbnb in Joshua Tree, California. He was rushed to the hospital after what authorities described as erratic behavior linked to heroin and fentanyl. But within five days, 37-year-old Marieangela King filed court documents seeking massive monthly payments and control of the couple’s shared assets.

Legal filings show King is requesting $6,000 in temporary spousal support and an additional $6,000 per month in regular alimony. She’s also asking for $10,000 in attorney’s fees and sole possession of the couple’s 2017 Toyota Prius.

Cher fights to protect her $360 million empire

Now 79, Cher is reportedly pouring all her focus into helping her 49-year-old son recover, but insiders say she’s also scrambling to protect her estimated $360 million fortune. King’s filings claim she only has $3,651.96 in the bank, but her monthly expense list paints a different picture.

According to court records, King’s reported expenses include $5,000 for rent, $3,000 for entertainment, gifts and vacations, $1,500 for groceries, $500 for health insurance, $600 for utilities, and $500 for clothing, cell service, and internet.

Friends close to Cher say she always suspected King of having ulterior motives and believed she married Elijah for his inheritance and access to wealth. Elijah, who receives funds from a trust set up by his late father Gregg Allman, has reportedly spiraled since King filed for divorce on April 8 after 12 years of marriage.

One insider said Cher wants to keep her son’s affairs out of court but feels trapped now that King is playing hardball.

Insiders also warn about Cher’s boyfriend A.E. Edwards

Adding to the pop icon’s mounting troubles, sources say her 39-year-old boyfriend, music producer Alexander “A.E.” Edwards, may also be draining her emotionally and financially. He was noticeably absent from Cher’s May birthday celebration, fueling speculation that their relationship is on the rocks.

Friends have urged Cher to end things with Edwards, and a source revealed she’s finally starting to see that he may not have her best interests at heart. However, the source added that Edwards is no longer her main concern.

Right now, Cher is entirely focused on Elijah’s wellbeing and his legal battle. As her son recovers from a near-fatal overdose and braces for a messy divorce, those closest to the star say she’s watching her money—and trust—disappear fast.
