Camotes residents brace for typhoon Tino

Residents across the Camotes Islands in Cebu are reinforcing their homes and securing belongings as Severe Tropical Storm “Tino” approaches the Visayas region.

Locals can be seen tightening roof structures, tying walls, and anchoring lightweight materials to withstand the strong winds expected to hit the islands.

Fisherfolk have also pulled their pump boats to the shore to avoid damage from high waves brought by the strengthening storm.

Authorities continue to remind everyone to stay alert and prepare for possible flooding and power interruptions as Tino nears landfall.

Earlier this morning, residents began rushing to hardware stores and community centers to gather essential supplies such as ropes, plywood, and emergency goods.

Others spent hours reinforcing wooden walls and covering windows as dark clouds began to form over the island.

According to local officials, previous typhoons caused significant property damage in the area, prompting the community to act early and avoid a repeat of last year’s devastation.

Families living near the coastline were also advised to move to safer areas before the weather conditions worsen.

In the coming hours, PAGASA expects Typhoon Tino to bring strong winds and heavy rainfall across parts of the Visayas and northern Mindanao.

Local disaster councils are on high alert, preparing evacuation centers and readying rescue equipment for possible emergencies.

Residents are urged to continue monitoring official weather advisories, avoid unnecessary travel, and remain vigilant as the storm is forecast to intensify further while moving westward over Philippine waters.
