The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has filed multiple complaints before the Department of Justice (DOJ) for violations of the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC) against two contractors linked to ghost projects in Bulacan.
The respondents are Syms Construction proprietor Sally Santos and IM Construction Corporation president Robert Imperio.
Their combined tax deficiencies reportedly amount to ₱13.8 million, stemming from fictitious expenses, underreported income, and false Value Added Tax (VAT) declarations.
Santos and Imperio face charges for violating Sections 254 and 255 of the NIRC for tax evasion and willful failure to supply correct and accurate information.
According to BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin Mendoza, these cases form part of a stronger crackdown on contractors involved in ghost projects and improper tax practices.
The BIR also confirmed it is now looking into the alleged ₱30-million personal donation made by Lawrence Lubiano to the campaign of Senator Chiz Escudero.
