Thomas Markle Sr., the father of Meghan Markle, has been arrested in Florida, United States, over alleged possession of materials depicting the sexual abuse of minors.
The investigation began after Thomas Markle Jr. reportedly discovered boxes containing hundreds of images at his father’s former residence in Cebu City, Philippines, and reported the discovery to police.
Authorities said around 78 items, including photographs, film negatives, and books, were seized from two storage units rented by Markle in California.
Markle is facing one count of possession of child pornography and is expected to appear before a court in Tampa.
Prior to his arrest, Philippine authorities had also been investigating him over similar allegations.
However, Markle has denied the accusations, describing them as lies.
