The BARMM Parliamentary Elections scheduled for October 13, 2025 will no longer push through.
This comes after the Supreme Court declared Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 77 unconstitutional.
The law involved the redistribution of parliamentary districts in the region, particularly the transfer of seven parliamentary seats previously allotted to Sulu.
According to the Supreme Court, the measure violated Section 5 of the Voter Registration Act, which prohibits changes in precincts once the election period has begun.
It can be recalled that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) had already suspended election preparations following the Supreme Court’s issuance of a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the implementation of BAA 77.
As a result, all election-related activities have been halted.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has ordered the poll body to conduct the BARMM elections no later than March of next year.
