Five people died in a road crash in Barangay Poblacion, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur, shortly after noon Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026.
According to the initial report from the Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office, the van was traveling from Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, toward Pagadian City when it crashed into a parked truck.
Several motorcycles were also involved in the collision because of the force of the impact.
The crash caused severe damage to the van, while the bodies of passengers were scattered along the road, according to the report.
Police have yet to release the identities of the victims as the investigation into the incident continues.
Several other individuals were brought to different hospitals in Pagadian City for medical treatment.
Authorities are continuing to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the events that led to the van colliding with the parked truck.
The incident occurred in Barangay Poblacion, Dumalinao, where the collision resulted in multiple casualties and damage to the vehicles involved.
Police have not yet provided further details about the identities of those who died or the number and condition of those taken to hospitals.
