Atong Ang files 5 cases vs whistleblowers in missing sabungeros case

Businessman and gaming tycoon Charlie “Atong” Ang filed five criminal complaints on Wednesday against two whistleblowers who linked him to the disappearance and alleged murder of several sabungeros.

Ang, accompanied by his legal counsel Atty. Lorna Kapunan, went to the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office to file the charges against Julie Patidongan, also known as “Totoy,” and Alan Bantiles.

According to Atty. Kapunan, the cases stem from the two men’s public accusations implicating Ang as the alleged mastermind behind the high-profile abduction and killing of the missing online cockfighting personalities.

Ang denied involvement in the case and insisted that the accusations were baseless. He alleged that the motive behind the claims was extortion, stating that Bantiles had demanded ₱300 million from him on behalf of Patidongan.

He also alleged that the two had plotted to kidnap and kill him after he refused to give in to their demands.

Atty. Kapunan questioned the credibility of Patidongan, noting that he has been previously involved in separate complaints, including sexual harassment and frustrated murder.

Records show that Patidongan was formerly employed as a farm manager for Ang, while Bantiles was allegedly working in coordination with him.

The criminal complaints add a new layer of tension to the ongoing investigation into the missing sabungeros case, which has drawn national attention.
