Around 550,000 travelers are expected to flock to airports nationwide during the Holy Week holiday rush.
In response, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has placed its airports under heightened alert.
In an advisory, CAAP said it is anticipating a 7% to 10% increase in passenger traffic this week.
Under the heightened alert status, all area and airport managers are directed to implement preparedness measures, including increased personnel deployment, stricter protocols, and continuous monitoring of passenger movement.
At the same time, the agency advised passengers to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled flights.
CAAP Director General Raul del Rosario assured the public that all CAAP-operated airports are ready to handle the passenger volume and are implementing measures to ensure safe and smooth travel for everyone.
It can be recalled that New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) earlier projected that more than 1.35 million passengers will pass through Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) during Holy Week.
