Six senior high school students were injured following a suspected chemical explosion at a science research center in Barangay San Antonio, Makati City.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the explosion occurred inside a lab workbench at Globetek Science Foundation Inc. Emergency responders quickly transported the injured students to a hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
Initial investigations indicate that the explosion was caused by an ethanol leak in the laboratory. The incident resulted in an estimated ₱5,000 worth of property damage.
Authorities are conducting further investigations to determine if safety protocols were followed and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
