House panel approves ₱200 daily wage hike bill

A House panel has approved a bill mandating a ₱200 increase in the daily minimum wage across all sectors, pushing it forward for further legislative deliberation.

The House Committee on Labor and Employment passed the substitute bill consolidating House Bills No. 514, 7568, and 7871, which all proposed varying wage increases.

The measure, classified as a legislated wage hike, is separate from the wage adjustments set by regional wage boards.

The bill was finalized after four hearings and over eight months of discussions, where lawmakers considered different proposals, including a ₱150 increase.

Following consultations, the committee settled on a ₱200 increase.
