Young driver dies after car crashes into jeep in Iloilo

A 21-year-old man died after his car collided with a modernized jeep early Sunday morning, July 6, in Barangay San Antonio, Oton, Iloilo.

The fatality, identified only by the alias “Mando,” was a resident of Barangay Parara, Tigbauan. He was declared dead-on-arrival at the hospital.

The driver of the jeep, known by the alias “Jet,” 40, is a resident of Barangay Idcadlom, San Joaquin. He and around 10 of his passengers sustained minor injuries.

According to the initial investigation by the Oton Municipal Police Station, both vehicles were traveling in opposite directions. The car reportedly swerved, crossed the center line, and crashed head-on into the approaching jeep.

Due to the force of the impact, the car was severely damaged and described as crumpled.

Authorities said the jeep driver is now in the custody of the Oton Police as part of the ongoing investigation.
