Two witnesses testified before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, positively identifying Curlee Discaya and stating that a Makati City property was bought by Martin Romualdez.
The witnesses, identified as Alyas Joy and Alyas Maria, are office staff of Rico Ocampo, the former tenant of the house and lot located in South Forbes, Makati City. During the hearing, they recounted their encounter with Discaya following an eviction notice they received earlier this year.
According to the witnesses, on Jan. 29, 2024, they were informed by their employer that they needed to vacate the property by Jan. 31, citing that the house had already been purchased. Due to the number of belongings inside the residence, they were unable to leave immediately and instead communicated with the property’s broker to request more time.
The witnesses said their request was granted on Feb. 1, the same day they met Discaya. They testified that they spoke with Discaya for about five minutes, during which he allegedly told them that Romualdez was the buyer of the property.
To confirm their testimony, Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson asked the witnesses to identify Discaya during the hearing. Both witnesses pointed to him and confirmed that he was the person they had met at the property.
Discaya later requested to see the faces of the witnesses, but the committee denied the request, saying it was not part of his rights under the proceedings.
The hearing forms part of the Senate’s ongoing inquiry into the Makati property transaction and related claims presented before the committee.
