Construction firm department head shot in Davao City

A department head of a construction company was shot by riding-in-tandem suspects while inside his vehicle along McArthur Highway in Barangay Matina, Talomo District, Davao City, on the afternoon of January 19.

Police said the shooting occurred shortly after 5 p.m. as the victim was traveling through the area. The victim was identified only as Melfred, a resident of Barangay Cabantian and a department head of a construction firm.

According to a report from the Talomo Police Station, the suspects, riding a motorcycle, approached and blocked the victim’s vehicle before opening fire. The assailants reportedly fired three shots, which struck the victim in the body.

After the shooting, the suspects immediately fled the scene, heading in an unknown direction. The victim was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment. Authorities said he is currently in stable condition.

Police investigators immediately secured the crime scene and began reviewing closed-circuit television footage from nearby establishments and roadways to identify the suspects and determine their escape route.

A hot pursuit operation was launched shortly after the incident as authorities worked to track down the individuals behind the attack. Police have not released details on a possible motive or whether the shooting was work-related.

The Talomo Police Station said the investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are coordinating with other units to gather additional information that may lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects.

Police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any information that may help in the investigation.
