A truck loaded with documents and evidence was delivered to the Office of the Ombudsman as part of a plunder complaint filed against Vice President Sara Duterte. The complaint was brought by members of civil society and several figures from the Church, who also named 15 officials from the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education.
The group said the complaint stems from alleged irregularities and misuse of confidential funds entrusted to Duterte in her capacity as vice president and as secretary of education. They argued that the funds should have been used for programs intended to benefit the country and the education sector.
According to the complainants, the materials submitted include documents they believe demonstrate how the confidential funds were improperly handled. They said filing the case was necessary to ensure accountability and to raise concerns over the management of public resources.
The complaint asks the Ombudsman to investigate and prosecute the alleged offenses. The group also requested that the Ombudsman prepare the case for referral to the House of Representatives for a possible impeachment complaint.
In addition, the complainants are seeking the suspension of OVP and DepEd officials they accuse of involvement in the alleged misuse of funds. They said suspension is needed to prevent potential interference in the investigation.
The delivery of the documents, transported using an L300 vehicle, marked the formal submission of the case. The complainants said the volume of records reflects the seriousness of their allegations.
The Ombudsman has yet to comment on the filing. The complaint adds to ongoing public discussions over the use of confidential funds across government offices, particularly those handling programs tied to national services and education.
