Usec. Jojo Cadiz on leave; DOJ sees no basis yet to investigate official

The Department of Justice (DOJ) will not conduct an investigation into Undersecretary Jose “Jojo” Cadiz regarding alleged corruption in flood control projects.

This is despite former Congressman Zaldy Co linking Cadiz to supposed kickbacks from the said projects.

According to Acting Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida, it is the Office of the Ombudsman—not the DOJ—that has the authority to investigate Cadiz.

He also emphasized that Cadiz did not leave the country.

Meanwhile, Vida assured that the allegations against the DOJ official will not affect the department’s ongoing investigations.

He said they will maintain their independence, conviction, and their commitment to put an end to the issue.
