Police officer punched by student in Bacolod City

A Police Master Sergeant assigned to Police Station 5 in Bacolod City was allegedly punched by a senior high school student after warning a group of students who were skateboarding on a road in Barangay Granada on Aug. 14.

Police Major Andy Ofalia, station commander of Police Station 5, said in an interview with Brigada News FM Bacolod that the police officer sustained an injury below his eye following the incident.

The officer had reportedly cautioned the students because their activity could cause an accident or affect the flow of traffic.

Ofalia clarified that the student who was initially reprimanded was not the one who allegedly punched the police officer.

Instead, another student approached the officer and the student he was speaking with before the alleged assault happened.

The police officer’s condition was reported to be stable following the incident.

In a separate development, the minor reportedly apologized and said he did not know that the person he punched was a police officer.
