Two bus drivers from Solid North Bus Inc. tested positive for illegal drug use in a mandatory drug screening ordered by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) after a deadly crash along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) that killed 10 individuals.
According to the LTO, the drivers will still undergo confirmatory tests. Should the results be upheld, they may face permanent revocation of their licenses and potential criminal charges.
The drug tests were part of stricter safety checks enforced after the fatal incident. The LTO also began inspecting Solid North’s fleet of 276 buses. Only 46 units have passed roadworthiness tests so far.
LTO Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II said the agency’s investigation continues as part of broader measures to ensure passenger safety nationwide. Additional drivers and units from the bus company are scheduled for further evaluation.
