Residents found a newborn baby boy dead along the shoreline of Zone 8, Barangay Bula, General Santos City, Sunday morning.
Witnesses noticed the baby after waves carried the body toward the shoreline, prompting residents to approach and report the discovery.
Residents immediately informed barangay officials about the disturbing discovery and sought assistance while authorities coordinated their response to the incident.
Local officials confirmed that they have not identified the baby’s mother and remain uncertain about how the infant reached shore.
Zone 8 Chairperson Minda Faelnar said officials continue coordinating efforts to determine the circumstances surrounding the baby’s discovery along the shoreline.
Residents expressed sadness over the incident and shared their grief after authorities discovered the newborn’s body along their community’s shoreline.
Danica Jane Jabinez and Maryjane Jabinez, among the residents, shared information about the discovery and their immediate response.
Another resident, Luis Tenchavez, also expressed concern over the incident and joined community members in mourning the newborn’s death.
Authorities brought the baby to a funeral home while officials continued coordinating efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
Authorities have not confirmed whether anyone intentionally abandoned the baby, and investigators continue examining available information about the incident.
Police and barangay officials continue investigating to determine when and how the newborn reached the shoreline and identify relatives.
