A 55-year-old man died after being stabbed multiple times by his son-in-law during a heated altercation in Supa, San Jose, Antique around 9 p.m. Thursday, May 8.
The victim, identified as Esmundo Piano, was reportedly about to use the restroom before sleeping when his son-in-law, alias Panoy, 48, arrived at the house allegedly intoxicated. According to the victim’s wife, Nanay Rita, the suspect attempted to force open their door while shouting and provoking Piano to come outside.
Piano came out armed with a jolen gun, a homemade weapon, but the suspect allegedly disarmed him and launched a fatal stabbing attack. Piano was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Police said the suspect fled the scene but surrendered to authorities.
According to Police Lieutenant Cheryl Sapinosa, deputy chief of the San Jose de Buenavista Municipal Police Station, the motive behind the killing appears to be a personal grudge.
Investigation is ongoing as authorities prepare to file appropriate charges.
