A 25-year-old man was killed while his minor nephew was hospitalized after both were stabbed by three teenage suspects in a violent incident outside a food establishment early Friday, May 9.
According to security guard Noel Nama, who spoke with Brigada News FM Kalibo, the victims were about to enter the establishment located along Roxas Avenue in Poblacion when two of the minors confronted them, sparking a verbal altercation. Nama intervened and asked both parties to leave the premises.
Moments later, the group of minors allegedly chased after the victims and stabbed them multiple times using a knife. One of the victims succumbed to his injuries, while the minor was rushed to the hospital and remains under medical care.
The establishment immediately called for police assistance.
As of writing, the three teenage suspects are in the custody of the Kalibo Municipal Police Station pending further investigation.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved due to their ages. The motive behind the attack remains under investigation.
Police assured the public that appropriate charges will be filed in accordance with the law and the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act.
