Two brothers killed in stabbing, shooting incident in Antique

Two brothers were killed following a stabbing and shooting incident in Barangay Barrio, Laua-an, Antique on Wednesday afternoon, March 11, according to police.

The victims were identified only by their aliases Isagani, 35, and Randy, 30, both residents of the said barangay.

Police Capt. Jomel Salarda, acting chief of the Laua-an Municipal Police Station, said the incident involved three men identified as Joemar, 26, an SK chairman; Gerald, 27; and Michael, 40, all residents of Barangay Magyapo.

According to police, the three men were walking when the two brothers allegedly followed them and suddenly attacked.

Authorities said Isagani allegedly struck Joemar with a bolo, hitting him in the neck. Joemar reportedly managed to grab the weapon and retaliate against Isagani.

Meanwhile, Randy allegedly retrieved a firearm and shot Joemar, hitting him in the arm, and Michael, who sustained a gunshot wound in the buttocks.

Police said Gerald witnessed the incident and immediately picked up a stone, striking Randy in the head and causing him to fall.

Gerald then reportedly seized the firearm and shot both Randy and Isagani, resulting in their deaths.

Joemar and Michael were brought to a hospital and are currently receiving treatment for their injuries.

Gerald is now under police custody as authorities continue their investigation.

Police said one of the angles being examined is the possibility of an old grudge between the parties involved.
