Tropical Storm MAN-YI, located 1,965 km east of Eastern Visayas, is moving west-southwest at 30 km/h. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near its center, with gusts reaching 80 km/h. The winds extend up to 320 km from the center.
Forecasted Path and Intensification
MAN-YI will continue its southwestward movement over the next 12 hours before turning westward toward the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by tomorrow evening as “PEPITO”, 14 November. Once inside the PAR, the storm will move westward or west-northwestward, with a possible landfall along the eastern coast of Luzon during the weekend (16-17 November). The storm’s exact path may still shift in the coming days.
MAN-YI is expected to intensify into a severe tropical storm within the next 24 hours and could reach typhoon status by tomorrow afternoon or evening. There is a chance the storm may rapidly intensify, possibly reaching super typhoon strength before landfall.
Potential Hazards for Luzon and the Eastern Seaboard
Luzon faces the risk of heavy rainfall, strong winds, and storm surge as MAN-YI approaches. Coastal areas along the eastern seaboard will experience rough seas by late Friday or Saturday, with hazardous conditions expected.
Residents in affected areas should remain alert and monitor updates from authorities.
