A 23-year-old motorcycle rider died after being run over by a truck around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, along Proper Barangay Perrelos, Carcar City, Cebu.
The victim, identified as John, was a resident of Sitio Tapon, Barangay Poblacion 3. The truck driver, Roberto, 52, is from Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.
According to an initial investigation by the Carcar City Police Station, both vehicles were traveling in the same direction when the motorcycle attempted to overtake the truck. However, the rider lost control, was thrown off, and was subsequently run over by the truck.
John sustained severe head injuries and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
The truck driver is now in police custody as authorities continue their investigation into the incident.
