Supporters of ex-Pres. Duterte protest outside SC

Several supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte gathered in front of the Supreme Court (SC) to call for action regarding the ongoing proceedings of the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Duterte.

According to Wendell Cabrera, convenor of the DDS Sara All Confederation, they will submit a letter to the Court containing more than one million signatures.

The letter seeks to urge the SC to act on a petition calling for Duterte’s return.

Cabrera said they view the Supreme Court as the “last bastion of sanity” in the government.

He added that they feel they have no other choice or hope at this point.

He also expressed satisfaction that the SC is performing its duties.

In closing, Cabrera insisted that a “grave injustice” was committed against Duterte.

He claimed that the former president was illegally handed over to a foreign body without being presented before local courts.

Meanwhile, Cabrera clarified that it was merely coincidental that the submission of their letter took place on the same day as the first day of the confirmation of charges hearing against the former president.

He noted that they have been gathering signatures since last year.
