Residents of Ladol Beach woke up to damage after stones were hurled at buildings late Wednesday night.
The barangay captain said several structures inside the beach area were struck, including a hotel and dining establishments.
One hotel room window shattered after the rocks slammed into the glass, leaving a large hole in the frame.
Authorities have yet to confirm the motive, but the barangay captain said police are investigating the incident.
At the same time, protesters gathered to oppose the beach development managed by LGU Alabel, creating a tense atmosphere.
The protesters claimed they were not consulted properly about the project and demanded transparency from local officials.
They staged a demonstration, blocking roads and urging the government to listen to the community’s concerns.
Police requested CCTV footage from nearby establishments to help identify those responsible for throwing the stones.
They also warned the public against escalating the situation through violence or intimidation.
LGU Alabel appealed for cooperation from residents, stressing the need to maintain peace and order at the beach.
For now, cleanup and repairs are underway while authorities continue their investigation into the incident.
