SOJ Boying Remulla unfazed by possible Ombudsman probe

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla said he is open to facing an investigation by the Office of the Ombudsman in connection with the reported arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

In a statement, Remulla welcomed the recommendation from the Senate committee led by Sen. Imee Marcos to look into the incident, following her remarks that those involved could face multiple complaints.

Senator Marcos earlier raised the possibility that the arrest could result in charges including grave abuse of authority or misconduct, depending on how the events unfolded and who authorized the action.

Remulla, however, remained confident in his department’s actions, maintaining that all procedures followed legal protocol.

As of now, the Office of the Ombudsman has not made any official announcements regarding a formal investigation.
