Security guard shoots dead two men in Cebu City over alleged bullying

Two men were killed after they were shot by a security guard at about 10 a.m. Friday, March 27, in Sitio Antonio, Barangay Calamba, Cebu City, police said.

The victims were identified as Vicente Gemuta, 42, and Renato Belanizo, 52, both residents of the area.

Initial police investigation indicated that the suspect, identified only as Joel, 48, allegedly harbored long-standing resentment toward the victims due to repeated incidents of alleged bullying.

Authorities said the suspect was unable to control his anger, which reportedly led to the shooting of the two men.

In an interview with Brigada News FM Cebu, Christine, the live-in partner of Gemuta, denied claims that her partner was a bully.

She described Gemuta as cheerful, kind, and a responsible father to their children.

Christine also expressed the difficulty she now faces following the death of her partner, saying she no longer has someone to help support their children.

She also voiced frustration toward some individuals present at the scene, claiming that instead of immediately calling an ambulance, some chose to record videos to upload on social media reels.

Police confirmed that the suspect is currently in their custody as the investigation continues.
