Presidential son and House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos denied reports of a brewing coup against House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, saying members of the House of Representatives remain united behind the current leadership.
Marcos said there is no basis for claims of a planned leadership change in the chamber. He stressed that lawmakers continue to support Dy and are confident in his leadership.
The statement came after reports circulated about possible leadership changes in the Senate that ultimately did not push through. Marcos clarified that no similar moves are being discussed in the House.
According to Marcos, members of the House are satisfied with Dy’s leadership and remain focused on legislative work. He said the Speaker has shown steady leadership while the chamber works on internal reforms and efforts to strengthen institutional credibility.
Marcos also described Dy’s leadership style as quiet and stable, which he said is what the institution needs as it carries out reforms and demonstrates accountability to the public.
He added that internal restructuring is being implemented within the House to improve transparency, discipline and public trust. The restructuring is part of the leadership’s agenda to strengthen the institution and its operations.
Marcos reiterated that there are no ongoing discussions about a leadership shakeup and maintained that the House remains solid in its support for Speaker Dy.
