Two people were killed in a shooting incident inside Lucas Compound, Bayabas Extension, Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City, on Tuesday night, February 18, 2025.
Authorities identified the victims as 59-year-old Nicardo Nombrado and retired US Navy officer George Kyle Lucas, both residents of the compound. The suspect, identified as Kevin Asia, was arrested shortly after the attack.
According to Police Major Timothy Jim Romanillos of the Labangon Police Station, the suspect entered the compound, despite being unknown to the residents. The compound gate was briefly opened to allow a vehicle inside, giving the suspect an opportunity to enter.
Nombrado tried to remove Asia from the premises, but the suspect turned violent and took Nombrado’s baseball bat. Hearing the commotion, Lucas came out armed and shot Asia in the right leg. However, Asia managed to seize Lucas’ firearm.
Asia then shot Nombrado before chasing Lucas inside his home, where he fired multiple shots, killing him.
The suspect fled the scene but was swiftly apprehended by authorities. Residents claimed Asia may have been under the influence of illegal drugs, a claim police are investigating.
Asia now faces double murder charges.
